KOA MOANA ’23 – COMPLETES ITS REPAIRS FOR THE ARTHUR P. SIGRAH MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN KOSRAE.

>>SEPTEMBER 15, 2023 -TOFOL KOSRAE 
The United States Marine Corps 1st Logistics Group Task Force -Koa Moana provided assistance to Kosrae State in doing urgent Repairs for the Kosrae State Hospital otherwise known as the Arthur P. Sigrah Memorial Hospital. This project was fully funded through a US grant and implemented by the Koa Moana Task Force in response to needs identified through a series of talks among Kosrae State Leadership and FSM Leadership with the United States through the Joint Committee Meetings and other platforms. Although Kosrae has started the process to fully renovate the State Hospital through a $13M+ Infrastructure grant, the Kosrae Department Health Services had identified urgent repair needs to ensure the continuity of services to the public. This project was implemented for this exact purpose.
Upon completion of the Kosrae Hospital Urgent Repairs Project, USMC 1st Lt. Campbell Kerr and GySgt David Stillwell, along with US Army Sgt Gary Likiak  paid a visit to T.H. Governor Tulensa Palik and Leadership of Kosrae to provide their final report and recommendations moving forward. The project report included activities taken, impacts, successes, challenges, and recommendations moving forward beyond the project. As evident from the briefing, the Koa Moana Task Force went above and beyond to implement all needs within the original scope of work, as well as completed additional repair needs as identified throughout the 80-day project . In total, a little over $194,000 was expended to complete this project- free of cost to Kosrae State. $0 was expended from to this Project for labor cost. An additional $99,898 remains from this project grant to pay for additional hospital needs and maintenance while waiting for the new renovations.
The Leadership of Kosrae expressed their utmost appreciation and gratitude to the Koa Moana Task Force for their invaluable services as well as to the United States of America by extension. The same sentiments were extended to the State and National staff who worked to assist and ensure the success of this endeavor. 
The report was followed by a dinner reception hosted by T.H. Governor Tulensa Palik and the entire leadership of Kosrae State.
